The Informatics Clubs are an initiative of the Medellin Digital program, developed in partnership with COMFAMA and the EPM Foundation in Medellin, Colombia. The strategy aims at developing the use of the ICT in the public schools of the city, through small groups of students, gathered in a “Club”.

During 2 weeks, the Medellin Digital program trained 82 people from 39 different small businesses on how to use the following tools: Sugar CRM and the Google Adwords.The “students” needed to have a website. The Digital Literacy Program for Entrepreneurs (PADE in Spanish) is part of the Program Medellín Digital. This program has been a success and all the teachers are happy to work with such dedicated students. The E-Culture Portal (Entrepreneurship Culture) of the Program Medellin Digital opens the door to new opportunities for the entrepreneurs, offering them a network with information, training, forums, blogs and chats, etc. The portal has now 7 new online communities in topics such as Business Plan, Telecenters or the CreaMe-Medellin Digital Node. The program Medellin Digital just launched its new portal, with a new design, better access to the news, events and all the information about the digital progress in Medellín and in Colombia.It also serves as entrance to the 3 portals of the program: the educative portal, the entrepreneurship portal and the Network of Public Libraries portal.

Microsoft and the Engineering School of Antioquia (EIA) are working hand by hand in a program of digital learning, to empower the 34 libraries of the Network of Public Libraries in Medellin and its Metropolitan Area.

The portal of the Network of Public Libraries is offering a new version of its online library. Everybody has now access to the Media section, the virtual encyclopedias, the audiobooks, the Hemeroteca and much more.
Using the “hemeroteca”, the users can visit the main newspapers from all over the world, as well as a world interactive map to get to know about the latest news in each country.

The program Medellin Digital offers a wide range of games, through its different portals, giving the opportunity to make a virtual journey through the city, and get to know its history and culture.
For example, the entrepreneurship portal “Cultura E” offers the game “The Restaurant”, where everybody can simulate a restaurant, and learn how to build and manage it.
